Sometimes the John Deere Harvester Works Customer Support Team comes directly to the field to help fix equipment. They drive a vehicle that has all the tools they need to help fix what is needed.
John Deere Harvester Works Customer Support Team is a blessing to have when we are broke down. The Customer Support team follows the harvest run and puts in several hours each summer to help harvesters keep up and running. The Customer Support team travels with a semi trailer that has special harvesting parts that dealers might not have in stock. The trailer gets parked at preselected dealerships while they are in the midst of harvest. Since it is a busy time of the year, the customer support staff is on hand to offer their expertise. Often, Some of the team will even stop by a harvester’s field to help repair a breakdown.
Darin Jacobs of Erie, Ill. is a member of the John Deere Harvester Works Customer Support Team.
The other day, we needed just that. This time Darin Jacobs of Erie, Ill. came to the rescue. For more than 12 years, he has worked as a contract worker for John Deere working on harvesting equipment all over the world including Brazil, Ukraine and Australia. Today, he continues to work for John Deere Harvester Works but plays a different role. For 2 week intervals he will help the Customer Support team and then his co-workers will take their turn. Darin will take his turn 3 times this summer.
Darin and Roland work on one of our headers. This model is new to John Deere this year.
When Darin isn’t on the harvest run, he now works in the Dealer Technical Assistance Center (DTAC). DTAC is a small unit of 7 specialized people who help John Deere Dealers troubleshoot and repair equipment over the phone. The unit has handled over 200 cases in one day.
Charles does some maintenance on the header- tightening a belt- while Darin fixes the header.
In Darin’s free time, he and his wife Angela of nine years enjoy barrel racing. Darin also shoes 172 head of horses every 10 weeks and enjoys hunting. Darin and Angela’s 19-year-old daughter, Laykin, is currently attending college. Angela is a beautician.
Time is precious when you are broke down especially when the John Deere Customer Support Team is in your field. As a result, everyone on our crew pitches in to help the John Deere representatives by helping to fix our equipment and making sure the team has all the tools they need.
